Brief historical overview of the main methods of oriental massage
A healthy person is the greatest value of modern society. Only a healthy person can fully reveal his creative potential in creative work for the benefit of mankind. A wide system of socio-economic, hygienic and health-improving measures is aimed at preventing diseases and maintaining the health of the country's population. Among the therapeutic and prophylactic effects on the body of a healthy person (dietary, climatic, hydrotherapeutic, physiotherapeutic, medicinal, etc.), medicine in our time has reflexology.
The method of reflexology originated in ancient times about 5 thousand years ago in the Far East (the territory of present-day China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia). In the process of cognition of the world and natural phenomena, information was accumulated about what was useful and harmful to humans. Ancient doctors, observing the work of the human body, noted certain systems of relationships.
Having discovered and recognized the existence of mutual dependence between natural phenomena and their mutual conditioning, the ancient physicians suggested that the human body lives and acts under the influence of the same forces that dominate nature. The human body was considered not as something closed in itself and isolated from the surrounding world, but as a complex system, each element of which is functionally connected with all the others. They believed that with every disease the whole organism is involved in the disease process and that when the function and activity of one organ changes, the function of all other organs and systems of the body changes.
Ancient physicians considered disease as a process resulting from a violation of normal relationships and relationships both in the body itself and between the body and the environment. It was believed that the disease is the development of the struggle between the resistance forces of the body and the disease-causing cause, which, in turn, can be external (climate, infections, etc.), internal (food, water, emotions, etc.) or damage (wounds, burns). ). The task of the doctor was to help the body in this struggle.
Over time, the main provisions, methods and means of treatment of ancient Eastern medicine were developed and formulated. Some of them have not lost their significance to this day. Thus, it was believed that treatment should be complex and combine unidirectional actions, that treatment should not be hasty, except in special cases, since it is necessary to let nature do its job, in addition, treatment should be individual for each disease and for each patient.
Massage was widely used for treatment in ancient oriental medicine. It differs from classical European massage in that it uses a massage effect on active points, and a superficial, linear effect is carried out depending on the trajectory of meridian channels and the direction of energy in them. Massage, which concentrates on individual points of the meridians, is called acupressure, massage along the course of the meridians is called superficial (linear). עיסוי בישראל
Traditional oriental massage is a combination of acupressure with surface massage techniques.
The basis of the method of oriental acupressure, as well as acupuncture, is the doctrine of active points (acupuncture points) and energy channels-meridians. Thousands of years ago, Eastern physicians argued that the painful energy penetrates, first of all, into the skin, through it - into the channels, then into the internal organs, from there, in the form of various pathological reactions, the disease again “sends messages” to the skin. All this is carried out through active points, many of which are located on the human body.
The active point of the skin is a small area of the skin from 2 to 10 mm, which is in the most pronounced connection with a certain internal organ or part of the brain. In the ancient teachings of Chinese physicians about the relationship between the integument of the body and internal organs, it is recognized that it is possible to exert a targeted effect on the periphery of the body on the internal organs, their condition, and their activity. These ideas are consonant and understandable from the point of view of modern medicine. The method of action or irritation can be with a needle, finger pressure, a metal plate, a moxibustion cone, moxibustion with a wormwood cigar or even an ordinary cigarette, etc. It can vary in strength and duration.
For thousands of years, from generation to generation, ancient doctors painstakingly collected information about active points on the human body, irritation of which can change the functional state of certain organs and the body as a whole, and therefore can be used for treatment.
The rules for manipulations with active points are based on the concept of vital energy - "qi" and its movement along invisible and not defined channels-meridians until our time. In total, there are 12 paired and 2 unpaired main main channels.
